We are a friendly league club based in Horsham, West Sussex. We meet every Sunday night at Tanbridge House School or Forest Boys’ School (summer). The About Us and Contact Us areas have more information about what the club can offer.

West Weald, May 2015
Worthing, May 2015
Match dates and amendments as at 19 Apr 2015. “sh” next to a team means that the captain has responsibility for picking up shuttles.
This newsletter covers a number of items discussed at the Committee meeting last week- we always welcome suggestions from members as to how to improve our club- details of current post holders can be found on the ‘About us’ section of our website www.forestbadmintonclub.org
A reminder that, in addition to the Amendment lists circulated by Julie, Paul and Simon maintain an updated fixture list on our website. Please check you know your team dates and help team captains by confirming your availability for your scheduled matches and replying quickly if you are asked to play in additional matches.
Julie has also been able to arrange some men’s friendly matches this year, primarily for younger members/those not regular team players. If you would like to play in one of these, please let Graeme know. Match fees for these are also £4 to cover the cost of hall hire/shuttles.
You may have noticed that there is now a clock mounted on the wall as well as the one in the club box. We have the hall booked until 10.00pm (9.45pm on a Sunday) and while there is about 15 minutes’ flexibility, we need to be clear of the hall on time. Men’s three pair matches are most likely to over-run. Please make sure you start promptly at 7.45 and use all courts available.
PEG BOARD RULES
As the rules for this are no longer on the board, a reminder that the aim is that all members mix in and get competitive games during the evening. The person whose peg is at the top of the list of players waiting to play should choose a four from among the next 8 waiting. They can choose either a mixed or level doubles (depending on who is waiting- we have many more male than female members!) but they should aim for an even match ie 4 of similar standard or 2 stronger and 2 weaker players. We aim to avoid the same fours being repeated- if the pegs need to be mixed up, the person on the top of the board should liaise with a committee member to ensure fairness.
In addition to repeating previous popular events, the committee have suggested a number of alternatives (attached) and are happy to have extra ideas. Please fill in the sheet in the Club box with your preferences noting if you are prepared to help with organising! We like to include partners/friends/ ex- members in these events.
Badminton England have issued guidance on data protection which we aim to follow. As you will be aware we keep member’s preferred email contact details to circulate club information and so Team Captains can liaise for matches. Committee members preferred to see who these have been sent to so that they were aware who had been contacted rather than have ‘blind copies’ so this is what we intend to do in future. Members’ contact details must not, of course, be divulged to third parties
Please contact Gill if you have any concerns over this.
SAINSBURY’S ACTIVE KIDS VOUCHERS
We are collecting these again for equipment for our junior club.
