Dear Members,

 

We hope you are enjoying the summer, whether or you have been coming along to our summer season at Forest Recreation Centre. A reminder that our final evening there, Sunday 31 August, will be our first mixed pairs handicap tournament for the Sheila Howell Trophy. We hope as many members as possible will compete for this- more details about the format have been sent separately but please be there at 6.30pm if possible so the draw for partners can take place in good time for a prompt 7pm start.

 

More tournaments, (when we can try out all those winning shots that looked so easy at the Olympics) are the Bonanza tournament for league and social players at East Grinstead on 6 September, our pairs tournament on Wednesday September 17 at Tanbridge and the Sussex Grade E Orbital tournament K2 on Saturday 18 October. Yehlex Club match shirts can be ordered via Gill.

 

Our next social event will be a cycle ride on Sunday 7 September followed by tea at Kay’s house in Brooks Green-details on Steve’s poster! Our first night back at the Sports Hall at Tanbridge House School follows at 6.30pm.

 

Forest’s formal submission to be a Premier Club is now with Badminton England. As part of the preparation for this, we have produced an information leaflet about the club and a number of Codes of Practice. The Member’s Code is attached with the leaflet, which confirms the new Committee members elected at the AGM. All the Codes will be put on our website for future reference

 

Annual subscriptions are due on 1 September and we hope you will be rejoining. We plan to be one of Badminton England’s online clubs, which promise various benefits for members –details to follow!
